Dear Rozanne, Great work at picking up the texture and relief of the stone!! It's funny how the camera can sometimes see more than we can directly. I't kind of odd that he's unknown. Usually the heraldic crests allow them to be identified. His jerkin is pretty distinctive, too. It's a really neat picture - and I have to agree with francinechristophe that I don't think I'd ahve wanted to meet up with him!!! Love, Meredith

Oh, I would be thrilled to meet him, on good terms. lol! He looks really serious. I guess the knights were all pretty serious. Another great shot, Rozanne. Too bad they don't know who he is.

Superb creation which it made of this shoeing rider. But a thing of very important in all that: if they took time to make a work like that it in the stone, this Rider was to be very important and well considering...

I'm surprised there are no details regarding the arms. They are very simple, so I'd surmise he is one of the 'early' ones. The 'earliness' also emphasized by the ring-mail armor coif. Looks like possible plate on the chest, but that could also be representation of cloth.... Hmmm. A challenge methinks. Oh yes, super image! You captured enough detail to document this fellow very well. ;-)

An intriguing shot, Rozanne. The castle escutcheons on his mail suggest a Spanish origin, possibly the old kingdom of Castille. Many of the Spanish coats of arms, which I have seen, use this. I think this three turreted version, is typically Spanish. Regards, John.
