Description
That's a cooked sweet potato in her basket that she's about to skin and eat.
Captured in the old village in Lijiang, Yunnan province, China, about a week ago.
Normally it's tough to shoot near midday at high altitude (Lijiang is at 2400 meters), because the contrast is too high, but this time the harsh light yielded an effect like an oil painting.

what a poignant and disturbing photo, so full of her will to live, I bet the local (yak?, water buffalo?) butter is really good on 'em. I could try to make paint from this but better to have the original, but why should I do it when you can even better? Either way it deserves painting and printing on the textured stuff, framing up, etc. etc. In other words, tout suite, yet in the fullness of time, I like it.
