Description

This box of pain I keep beside me under lock and key, never far from sight. But I leave it out in the open, never far from reach. I put things in it on occasion, never to let them out. They never see the light of day, they never really wanted to. I only show my box of pain to those who really do not want to see it. Only those who do not know me are allowed to understand. But secretly I wish someone I knew were to steal this box away. I wish they would open it and read the agony of each day. I can't just give it to someone, it wouldn't be the same. I cannot call for help, just the messages I've left behind. I wish someone would follow the trail of tears through my woods, and find the weeping willow at the center of my heart. This box of pain contains all the clues to know me as I am, so I hide it away so as to not disturb the unprepared readers that know me. Now my question to you, that does not know me, what would you do if you found this box of pain in the arms of someone that you loved? Would you let them suffer or bring them back to the reality of your love?

An honest and quite emotionally stirring piece. Boxes ... I know them well, whether they contain pain or pleasure they're wasted unshared. Sure there are risks - but even at my ripe age I still believe that the opened box is best. Here's a poem of mine on a parallel theme: PANDORAS BOX You should have snapped hard fast the lock, and, unlike Pandora, sat upon the lid. Don't complain now that your innocence is lost your senses assaulted your feelings undammed You knew beforehand what would come to occupy your space. Many a wise tongue has clucked at poor Pandora's sin: how much more foolish is the tongue who, having clucked, repeats the crime. Like mine. You've opened up again haven't you? Let the safe shield slip an inch. Haven't you learned yet that the slipper you carry will never fit? That there is no girl among the cinders waiting for you? Didn't you spread your cards along the table one last time? Risk one final toss of dice? Fool Fortune will never smile on you since Luck's a lady, and ladies don't love you. So ... open up, is my take Mike

I'll use an analogy: "You can't catch fish if you don't throw your line in the water". What prevents you from opening up? Pride? Embarrassment? Guilt? You say you wish someone you know would secretly steal this box away? Why not simply GIVE them the box? Try it. I'm reminded of another analogy: "You can't ever lose what you don't really yet have". GOOD luck and MY BEST, kind soul. PEACE. T.P. BTW: These are MY simpleton thoughts. I also 'thought' I and Miss Halle Berry would be man and wife by now. WINK.

When the right person comes along you won't have to give it away, they will simply take it away. You manage to convery so much with few words, that's rare and wonderful.
