Life for me has been dark and dim
Ever since you slept with him
And every moment lacking light
makes the darkness more to fight
Don't think of me as naive
I vowed to you I'd never leave
Drink love from my endless cup
Because I vowed to not give up
And I want to be sure you know
That I vowed not to let go
I beg of you now to stay
For I will never turn away
I would pay the price with my whole life
If you would only stay to be my wife
Forever yours, Forever mine
I will walk that line
Behind your shadows I am still there
You're the only one for whom I care
Now may be the worst of times
But I'll bring you the good times
I just hope that you never forget
That I am your silhouette

This poem I shall give to my wife tonight so that she can truly see how I feel. It is a rewrite of the vows I told her only a year and a half ago when I wed her. Below are the vows for your comparison. I don't know what to expect from this. I already know that there is still love otherwise she wouldn't still be with me, but there is certainly something missing.

I think this is perhaps too personal, too raw in the hurt it shows [very well], for me to comment properly ... also it brings back too many unhappy memories. I truly hope your plea is heard and that you do not suffer any more betrayal. I know few things which hurt so much ... but whatever the eventual outcome, please don't let ANYTHING destroy your own self-esteem. It is essential that yoy deserve each other and value each other equally. Best wishes. Mike
