Description

The breath of many worlds sifting through her blood - "The eyes of the pilot", Bruce Boston. This render is inspired by SF artist Donato Giancola's "Between Worlds", which can be viewed at http://www.donatoart.com/sf/between.html I'd been playing with an acceleration suit/bridge scene for some time, and seeing Donato's image helped everything fall together. As you can see, I adapted his blue/gold colour scheme and the oval bulkhead, while adding a few personal touches of my own. The base stellar field is a freebie, as is the main planet, a Photoshop file from Deviant Art. I created the ringed moon in Bryce and then worked the overall scene in Photoshop. The orbiting vessel you should all recognise: don't take the render as B5 specific (it's not: it's part of my Dakini series), but those Omega Class destroyers are just sooo effective. The 3D work: V3, cool coil hair, Dystopian cyber-seat. The suit is from Xurge3D, with kitbashed textures and extra valves, tubes etc. created mainly in Bryce. The bulkhead is adapted from BeyondBent's SF Construction set. This latest render is mercifully free (mostly) from overt Kubrick-isms. Umm, apart from the 2001-style screens. And the stellar alignment. Oh well... All composed in Photoshop (12 layers and counting). The final unifying coppery tinge was created using opticVerve lab's free Virtual Photographer filter for PS: grab it, it's great! Thanks for stopping by. Suggestions and criticisms are always welcome.

Good scene would make a great scifi book cover. IMHO the suit is a little too shiny.

Thanks for the comments folks. Buckzero: I think you're right. I'm pleased with the elements of the scene, but am still playing with the overall colour in Photoshop. I've updated the image slightly: this version has a little more copper, and a greater colour unity. Learning curve... :)

This looks terrific, it reminds me of the style of my favourite artist, Jim Burns. Very nice indeed.
