Ultrafractal 4.03
Here's a new version of the entry I sent in for last months Monthly Themed Challenge and - woohoo!! - it won!
I've added a few things since the challenge: Some "mountains" made with Ron Barnett's sorta new "Landscape" ucl in the reb.ucl folder with a layer of a 3d plane (3d Mapping in the Standard.uxf folder - thanx, Frederik!) mapped Julia with Gaussian Integer.ucl faded in at the bottom right corner with masking. I added a touch of a bright sun peeking out from behind the clouds, too. And I cropped/re-framed the image thinner to give a better sense of movement to the tall "gladiolus stalk" doohickey that grows up and is trying to ascend to the Great Spirit thru the hole in the clouds that it is positioned under. Kind of a southwestern, Navajo vibe - Hope I did ok?
Yup, always making with the "context"/scene stuff in my works, ain't I? Freaken heretic! lol The challenges are cool because they get us to consciously "make" an image rather than settling for "what the pc made" and we learn to do more things with our fractal programs that way. Let those folks who think "the pc does all the work" stick THAT in their pipe and smoke it! lol
Thanks a TON for stopping by!
Rick

Rick and the Gladioli stalk! I really like the way it's reaching for the sky and the colours of the background are just wonderful. The whole thing is kinda gentle and fairy-tale-ish.
architect_maram
wow, impressive work.

Very nicely composed Rick, good work. "Rick and the Gladioli.." Seems like I read that book in grade school, came right after we got through the Dick and Jane series. I think it was part of a series as well: Rick and the Mangrove Tree, Rick and the Palmetto shrub, Rick and the Cabbage Palm, etc. ;-)

Congrats, Rick! AWESOME work!

That is certainly a bashful sun. don't know why. It should be pleased to play a part in such an imaginative picture. I like the understatement.

The crispness of these flowers and the subtlety of the background mountains work beautifully together, and yes you are right about the challenges make us "work" in a more controlled fashion and my goodness your latest theme for the monthly challenge will really test members skill and ingenuity. WELL DONE :O)
