Description

Added landing gears, went a bit Harrier-ish on the whole thing (the engine ones don't really retract, ergo the protection from the jet exhausts), because I couldn't figure out any other way to do it. Also changed the engines a bit, moved them forward, changed the back ones to something equally-bleah, but at least less jaggy. What else.. Added positioning lights. Still thinking whether or not to add a cockpit and guns. If I do add a cockpit it's gonna be interesting, I was planning on making it pop out with a crane-like boom all the way to ground level. Ideas still thought out, any advice or comments are surely welcome :)

Surely you'd only need wheels if you were landing forward like an aircraft? But that ship wouldn't be very aerodynamic in that configuration - think of the drag those engines would produce when vertical. You may be better having it as a VTOL (vertical take off and landing) vehicle and landing struts a bit like the eagle from Space 1999. Just a suggestion - its your model. Nice modelling anyway.

Looks awesomeness, I'd be intrested to see where you'd go with a cockpit design the ship looks great nice work on the engines and landing gear! ^^

You could have the gear (when up) be enclosed in an external blister... Nice development.

Outstanding ! Hugz !

Overall I think it's great. I agree the un-retracted gear on the outboard thrusters seems like it would spoil the aerodynamics when they were slanted forward for speed -- you really might think about some sort of clamshell cowling or curved blister housing for them.

For anyone who thinks that it should have feet or skids because it lands vertical, you know what I say? Rubbish! There are plenty of times where you might need to move the vehicle without having to power it up. Just go and take a look at most real helicopters. Very few use skids, and all the big heavy ones have wheeled landing gear. Keep at it drac, it looks cool so far.

That is coming along very nicely! I disagree with stealth about not needing wheels, how else are you going to get it from where you land to where you store it? Even the Harrier jump-jet has wheels on it for that reason. Perhaps the wheels would look better on the body of the craft right near the engines as this would allow for the engines to be rotated on the ground for maintainance. Of course, silly me, I thought the shiney part in the middle was the cockpit, oh well. At least I am reasonably sure I am looking at the front of it.... We are looking at the front, right? Should you add guns? Of course! All big boy toys should mount some kind of gun on it :D

Could I borrow it? I would like to make a nice entrance to a party;) Great work

The wheels on the landing gears should stay:you do wanna move this thing in a hanger or swivel around on the ground if you need to. Your modelling skills have improved greatly and are impressive to see them getting more and mmore refined. My only suggestion is that one of the positionning lights should be red in order to diiferenciate left from right. Again, just a suggestion. Guns? Yes!!! Cockpit? Yes, although I too thought the glass-like reflective center was the cockpit. Keep up the excellent job!

Sweet ship - and I like the VTOL effect. A space age Hawker Harrier. Great work.
