Description
Back again to the slide scans, this might be a puzzle viewpoint so I will explain in landlubber terms.
This is the pointed bit at the front of the sailing ship Eye of the Wind where all the many sails and ropes are fastened on. Sometimes a sailor needs to work here and that is why a knotted safety net is provided.
Put another way....the long pointed bit is the Jib boom, which is tensioned by the Dolphin Striker, coiled ropes are the Jib Sheets, almost out of sight running from the Bowsprit to the base of the bow are more tensioners made of chain called the Bobstays and the furled canvasses are the Jib Sheets.
Avast me hearties ,haul away together !

A nice composition, and it has lot of feelings to it, even if not a ship as large as this, I have sailed a few times.
