South West Australia is full of surprises. My brother lives there and took me on a tour without a map or compass. For ten minutes we had slithered down this side road while he insisted he knew where the road rejoined the larger dirt highway. So was this the end of the road? We backtracked for a short distance and followed vehicle wheel ruts into the forest,scraping noisily against high bushes until the track curved back onto the side road beyond the fallen tree. Twenty minutes later farmland appeared and we were back on the highway. This short adventure summed up to me the Australian attitude, they like to overcome challenges and its what drives the country forward.
