Description

For all you wonderful Rositeers plus one... Tonight was to be an "outburst" of hundreds of meteors during the annual Leonid meteor shower if the skies are clear enough. In addition the Earth is passing through a denser trail of debris left by the Comet Tempel-Tuttle, causing a higher concentration of meteors. That inspired me to do a quick rendering of such an event for those that missed it due to clouds. Now, granted, these are comets and not meteors. But close enough for my purposes...lol. I was reminded tonight, by a special person, of a song that everyone has heard but has special meanings for some. It goes: Catch a falling star. Catch a falling star an put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away! Catch a falling star an put it in your pocket, Save it for a rainy day! For love may come an tap you on the shoulder, Some star-less night! Just in case you feel you wanna hold her, You'll have a pocketful of starlight! Catch a falling star an put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away! Catch a falling star an put it in your pocket, Save it for a rainy day! For when your troubles startn multiplyin, An they just might! It's easy to forget them without tryin, With just a pocketful of starlight! Lyrics by Lee Pockriss and Paul Vance This thought goes out to a very special friend of mine. Here's some falling stars just for you, so make your wishes. I really hope all your wishes come true. Also, if I don't get another chance before this weekend, I wish all of you great folks a very happy Turkey day. Hugs to One and All. Dear Dave, Somehow I must have lost you e-bot, (our maybe some of the others got hungry and - well - anyway, I didn't see it!!) I was out walking my gallery "trapline" and saw you had posted!! I had a pretty good view of the Leonids. They are one of the few that I usually do get to see because our skys are clearer during this time of year. Most of the rest are tangle up in the gulf coast clouds or else lost in the haze and glow from Houston to the south. I keep wating and hoping that one of these days I'll see a real meteor store - hundreds a second!! They've gotten a lot better at predicting the comet dust trails so maybe we'll have some notice!! Nice choice of song. Putting it in your pocket really will work by the way - meterorites, (excluding Chixalub type things!!!) are at ambient temperature when they reach the ground. Once they slow to terminal velociy, all that air carries off the heat very quickly. A very cute image and a super sweet dedication!!!! I'm sure both were well received! In fact, that would be the wish I'd wish for you!!!!! Love ya!!!!! Meredith
