Description

This is a model inspired by a pylon race plane that was going to be built and flown by Darrel Greenamyer (test pilot of the SR-71) at the Reno races in Nevada. The project got pushed a side and is now an x-file collecting dust in an old hanger. I wanted to see what she would look like completed and let me tell you,,, it looks like one scary ride. It was to be powered by a 4360 Turbo Supercharged motor pushing 3500 horsepower. I guess its the same motor Howard Hughes used in the Spruce Goose, it was the biggest piston motor ever put in an aircraft. Looked like the size of a VW Bug, frigg'n huge. Now imagine sitting behind a 3500 HP motor and flying 50 feet off the ground at 500 mph. I, like the project, will not finish this model. I just wanted to see a concept of what it would look like all put together. Hope you like it.

I thought at first it was the E-166, the experimental predecessor of the E-266 twin for the Foxbat. but then I say the nose was a bit ogival and not just a translating cone. So I adjusted to propellor era and came to look. Well...it's not a Super Corsair and it's not a Bearcat. Turbocharged would more go with a 3350 Turbo-Compound or R-2800 so that is probably why it is taking time to build. Building the world's fastest subsonic design is still a challenge. Some folks just cannot adjust to momentum. The have to push weights and do it strict.

kewl image, looks a bit like the Hawker Sea Fury, with the cabin moved rearward. Heavy and sturdy, and like the Sea Fury devoid of grace and niceties.
