Description

my first time using yafray, trying to get caustic lighting to work. i couldn't get the specular reflections of the spherelights (lamps) to come out right when rayshadow was turned on, they had a radius in order to acheive soft shadows, but they show up pixelated, or, with specks, anyone know why? I did a second render of that area without ray shadows and combined them in photoshop. any advice helps

use a wardiso or blinn specular shader on the sphere. use area lights instead of lamps, pair the area lights with emmiting planes. amp the samples to 5 or 6 on the area lights. turn on gi settings to full. turn on photons and cache. set the gi settings to low. change the emit power to like 10 or 15, and turn the refine setting down to .05 or .001. were you using nodes dof or yafray dof. i recomend nodes dof because it works in a much shorter time
