Faster than a speeding bullet!
Another peacock capture from the beautiful Los Angeles County Botanic Garden located in beautiful Arcadia, California.
This guy was moving at seemingly warp speed, as indicated by the blurred right foot, and didn't want to be messed with. I saw him coming from just a few yards away but he was so determined to get to his destination it was all I could do to quickly aim the camera and click the shutter -- one reason for my inadvertantly cutting off his left foot at the bottom of the photo. I think I did reasonably well considering the circumstances. Not exactly like photographing sheep or snails, heh heh.
There have been comments about peacocks emitting terrible sounds. No kidding! I live about 1-1/2 miles from Paddison Farm, a sizeable acreage sporting some farm artifacts, and populated by several peacocks. The first time I ever heard the noises around the farm I thought someone was being tortured, or perhaps were screams from the depths of hell. The only other thing I can think of comparable to their squawking and yelling is the blood curdling wail of banshees. To top it off, the farm is not isolated from civilization, but situated in a business and residential area. How can the neighbors stand it?
Okay, enough for today. Thanks for dropping by, and do everything I wouldn't do!

Yup, the feathers are nice but the bird is unpleasant. Its noise is horrid - about as welcome as a rooster farm would be at daybreak... We had a peacock farm in the center of our little town when I was growing up and the screams could be heard for miles! BTW, did you know that peacock is delicious?

I LOVE THESE BIRDS AND COLLECT PICTURES AND PEACOCK ITEMS. I ALSO LIVED RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO 3 LIVELY ONES FOR A YEAR. I WAS CRAZED BY THEM IN THE EVENING LIKE YOU SAY 'SCREAMS FORM THE PITS OF HELL'. THAT'S SO FUNNY! I STILL LIKE THEM BUT CAN'T STAND THEIR NOISE. ANY MORE PICS OR SKINS? LOL.

Great shot and title. They are a very colourful bird perhaps to make up for their raucous sound.

Faster than a speeding bullet you say? And yet so many of them cant unrun one when it really counts, lol. I am probably the only person around who dont think peacocks are pretty. Sure when they spread their wings they look mighty impressive....but whats up with the rest of it? That long neck and small head....it just looks so unproportional doesnt it? Neat capture and once again you have cracked me up with your funny notes. #:O)
