Never trust a wolf with credit at a hardware store I guess. How come he couldn't have stopped at the grocery store to get some grapes without all that trouble? It would've been easier than the effort of getting a chain saw, but I suppose getting back at that squirel was more important. I guess the motivation for revenge on the squirel overcame has laziness about not putting the effort into getting the grapes, so the moral is very fitting since you never know what will set some people off to go medieval on your ass, it's best to be tactfull around whackos Wonderful story, I loved it!

well, foxes are know to be sly (and smart too). maybe that's why gals are called "foxes"? Love all your stories. I've been viewing all your postings but not commenting much cause my hands have been so bad lately. It's not just arthritis and aspirin doesn't always help. Not as bad tonight though. :) I'll be looking forward to another one soon.

In 1978 all the hardware stores in america were scheduled to be closed. Even the Ace Hardware in Marathon, Florida and the Dooley's in Long Beach, California were on the chopping block. It seemed to be that service was going to perform all the house hold repairs and block out the handyman. This would end drifting and tramps. All hardware would be sold by closed wholesale networks like the ones serving journeyman plumbers. Many fables have a biblical root in secret. This one hides this admonition. "Repeat no more these evil proverbs, the grapes are sour and the children's teeth are set on edge." You have done it Meredith. Finally a moral with morals. Time to read Proverb 31 and see what the good woman has been doing!! Wandering off on the shoulder of the road singing,..."In the rustling grass you can hear him pass..." notice how "pass" rhymes with "mass."

I love these smarty pants characters of yours. They always get what they deserve. Looking as how things ended on this story I would think those were the grapes of wrath... or maybe the Treegrapex chainsaw massacre! 8-)

Think you that clever was the fox? Might he not have hurléd rocks Or stood much higher on a box To reach desired fruit? The case is open and then shut, Admitting neither if nor but, For truth to tell the squirrel was nuts To mock the hungry brute.

The fox wasn't so smart. Being of financial savvy, he should have followed suit of the government. Make the squirrel pay taxes, in grapes, to avoid a fate of loss of home, life and family. The fox would have grapes everyday, effortlessly, for the rest of his life. Much sweeter deal and far less work. Fabulous Fable Mere. Hugs from Dave :^)
