Description
This ancient mosaic, found in Pompeii, depicts three animals playing dice. On the left is a possum, in the middle is a hamster, and on the right is a dog.
Ancient Romans played games with dice called "Tesserae". Romans used dice to gamble, and eventually gambling became such a social problem during the Republic that the Roman government was forced to restrict it. After that, it was only allowed during the week-long holiday of Saturnalia (which we now celebrate as Christmas and New Years).

Very nice! The heads all match really well. I wouldn't trust the hamster, though.
