Description

Deep within Sneaton Forest is the Hermitage. "The Hermitage" is thought to have been hewn out of a single rock in 1790. Reputely by George Chubb whose intials are carved over the door. I have another photograph of this place which I shall post tomorrow. The spot has a very spooky feel to it. It is high on a clifftop that falls away down to the forest floor. At some points I was not comfortable walking here, too close to the edge for me! Hugs for Happy Monday. Diane.

Now this is something very unique and special. I've seen little log cabin hermatages, but not one carved into stone. How wonderful! This is an excellent shot too. Would love to know more of the story of this hermit. :-)

Fantastic this closest pic... was it for a living that rock ? Extraordinary the misticism of that man.

@isacos, dear Cosme, the rock was the dwelling of a hermit man, name of George Chubb. This was his home.... Hugs. Di.

I like the shot but I don't think that I could live in there. It must have taken a very long tome. Dana
