Description
The Archmage put his hand on my shoulder and suddenly everything began to spin around me. The swirl of colors merged into blackness. The air around me turned cold. I was disoriented. I felt as if I were being thrust through the air.
Then the rush began to slow down; blackness turned back into swirling colors, then gradually a room appeared around me. It was a room I had never seen before.
Where was I?
Gradually my new surroundings come into focus. I was standing at one end what seemed to be a long and somewhat narrow room with walls made of large rectangular blocks of stone. To my left in the center of the wall was an enormous fireplace with a brightly burning fire. I could easily have stood erect in the fireplace. The logs that were laid out on the andirons were more like small trees than logs. The fireplace gave warmth to the room and added to the light. On either side of the fireplace were doorways that lead elsewhere. Tapestries hung on wall in the broad spaces between the doorways and the fireplace. Another tapestry hung over the fireplace.
On the floor in front of me was a large patch of light which came from above and behind me. The light glowed with glorious colors and when I turned my head I saw over a massive doorway an elaborate stained glass window which was illuminating the room.
The stone floor I was standing on was warmed not only by the light from the stained glass window, but also by rich and luxurious rugs in jewel-like tones
