Description

If you remember my post "sneaky snake" I said I would probably run across him again, weeeelll I did, LOL. I walked out my front door yesterday to get the mail and out of the corner of my eye I see something.... It just happened to be Mr. Snake curled up right by my front door! I guess that would keep most people away. If you look closely at his nose, you will see me in the reflection. I tried to get closer but he was in a foul mood and tried to strike at my camera before proceeding to violently attack the cat statue I have for decorations. I am almost positive he is a black racer. Thank you for your much appreciated comments have a terrific week! Please see full size photo for more detail. Wendy

You really are bold. I don't have an idea if its poisonous but I am sure you know and are comfortable with it. Great pose for the camera. Despite the warning, I like you attitude with snakes.

With a temperment like that, a racer would be a good guess. I am more familiar with red racers since I've seen more of them. And of course, I've had my share of diamondbacks, sidewinders and timber rattlers as temporary house guests just so I can study them closer. I was sorry to see our corn snake return to my son's house last week too. But I'm in no hurry to replace snakes in this house - even in enclosures. A saltwater tank seems a bit more friendly. :-) Great shot here.

Terrific shot Wendy! I had a rat snake in my yard for a long time, but one of my dogs came upon it and before I could react he had hurt the snake too badly for it to survive. Most snakes are great to have around, and I feel horrible about it. This fellow is a real beauty.
