Description

Shot taken yesterday at Little Beck. A woodcarver once lived here. Name of Thomas Whittaker, he carved only in oak. His trade mark was a little gnome upon every work he did. Germanic folklore says that when an acorn germinates a gnome is born to protect the oak tree during its lifetime. I like this little story :-) Uploading in between power glitches. Chancing my arm a bit!! Will get to galleries power permitting. Have a wonderful evening, hugs. Diane.

I wonder if this man realises what a gem of a place he has. I am amased by the floor tiles on the steps and the masonry. The capture does justice to all the earthly colours and textures. I like the story about the oak gnomes too!

You know my fondness of the woodcarver's trade. Such a lovely place it seems to be. And the story is so grand. I had never heard of the story of gnomes. I would love to look more into it, but for tonight we are doing our Christmas decorating. Hope your weekend is going splendidly. Say hello to that cuddly Beargon of yours for me. ;-)
