Description

I have a little series of doorways, gates, and windows I wish to share with you over the coming days. It is strange how all can be forbidding or inviting.. This gate stands on the old police station In Robin Hood's Bay. Made in soild oak by Richard Thompson. He was know as the mouseman of Kilburn. Always carving a little mouse on his work. The mouse is carved on the top of the gate, as I pass I always give him a little polish :-) Mouse Thompson is known world wide for his work. A gate like this would cost a fortune!! He has also carved the white rose which is the emblem of Yorkshire. I apologise for the trash can!! This is someones home, I did not feel I could ask folks to remove it!!! Have a magic Monday. Hugs for all. Diane.

Actually, the trash can gives is an "updated appearance." Could be worse - could have been a pile of trash without the can LOL. Good shot!

Great vantage point for the excellent composition. A gate is a strong symbol like a bridge...

Lol that was inconsiderate of them to leave the bin there and would have spoilt the shot if you had not gone to the top... Interesting to see such a grand entrance to the back door to the lock-up perhaps..

He was an amazing artist! To have created something which is still in use today! I love the worn steps, evidence of a thousand feet, running errands! How lovely! Such a change from the solid glass edifaces we see today! Refreshing and gprgeous. Thanks BJ
