Description

This is my third artwork based on Peter Elson style. Besides hundreds of book covers, many of his illustrations appear in the 1979 book "Great Space Battles" (by Stewart Cowley and Charles Herridge). This book is a part of a collection of four large illustrated science fiction books published between 1978 and 1980. The books titles was: * Spacecraft 2000-2100 AD * Great Space Battles * SpaceWreck: Ghost Ships and Derelicts of Space * Starliners: Commercial Travel in 2200 AD The books formed a connected space-opera milieu, describing the future history of mankind's expansion into the galaxy, presented in the guise of official handbooks by the Terran Trade Authority organization from which the "historical" setting of the books takes its name. The illustrations of these books, by several authors, was seminal for me and for my "spaceship design taste". They were one of the reasons for which I have developed my career in the field of Science Fiction. This artwork, after so many years, is my tribute to these precious books. Comments are welcome... :) BTW: Soon both spaceships will be on sale in my Renderosity shop (now they are in "pending mode"), so stay tuned! ;) TO KN0W MORE ABOUT PETER ELSON VISIT MY WEBSITE: The Unofficial Peter Elson Homepage

I saw the big ship in "Naked to the stars" artwork PE, and the small in "Trader to the stars" from the book "Navires de l'infini" AMP. I don't know the US title. Great to see these ships again.

The big gray ship shown is my all-time favorite Peter Elson design. Thanks so much for doing a 3D CGI version for us to see! :-)

Thanks for the info on the books. I looked thought them often enough, though I don't think I ever owned them. Much of the artwork originally appeared in the glossy British magazine SCI FI WEEKLY.
