Description

Oil, 11"x14". Finished this a month or so ago. It's a copy of a painting by JMW Turner, one of my favorites. Every one of his paintings has great atmosphere and colors, among other things. Anyway I'm still figuring out the best way to get a canvas photographed to look like the original. This is pretty close. Sig was added later digitally. Thank you very much for the comments on my last; I appreciate the time taken by everyone to look. -Will

What a painter to copy, aim high!! This is actually as near as you could get, I mean the guy was a genius with paint but then you would be if you were a workaholic and did about 3 a day. Well done:).

Yes, I actually went to Northumberland - and Norham - on the strength of one his paintings. Love too his later watercolours: the mystic magic of nothingness! This is a brilliant copy and the style suits the size of your original.

A great topic to pick. I love the area around the castle, from Llyn Peris up past Yr Wyddfa and across to Llyn Gwynnant and Llyn Dinas, where Dinas Emrys broods over the clear, silver lake like a giant Druid. I am not familiar with the Turner rendition (I shall look it up now!) but I thoroughly enjoyed your 'take' on the master.

This is a really excellent piece. I always loved the look of oils but lack the patience to work with them effectively.
