Description

Thought we could all use a nice reminder of greener days. This stagnated on my hard drive for months until recently, when I learned a new Photoship trick to brighten colors without losing detail. Here it is: 1. Copy the image and paste it to crate a new [top] layer. 2. "Gaussian Blur" the top layer a little. 3. Change the top layer's Blending Mode to "Soft Light". 4. Adjust the Brightness/Contrast and opacity of the top layer until it looks right. 5. Merge the layers. 6. Dance. You guys have been great -- thanks for all the wonderful comments you left on "joyful possession" and "observer". There might be more "summer revisited" stuff coming up at some point.

Cool shot. Ive used the Gaussian layer blending thingy a little myself. I usually use it to strengthen the colors and add a soft effect to the overall shot. I use the "overlay" blending mode and adjust the opacity of the layer until Im satisfied. I might give this a shot.

Thanks for sharing your process. I've used similar methods in some my photos, though I find that copying and pasting only the highlights to a new blurring layer produces more pleasing results for me. Being honest, I love the thumb, and don't think you need the strips of green on either side as it makes the surface the dfly is sitting on look blown out. I would suggest cropping in on it, but that is just me. :)
