Description

Welcome to 2007, Renderosity. This was taken yesterday afternoon in Portsmouth, NH, just as the sun was getting low in the sky. Thought the reflections of light off the building looked nice. I only wish it could've been better. I'm a very limited photographer, only really good at warm-weather nature shots -- the city has a very different dynamic, and while I love the city dearly, the shots just don't come out as good. I think this is technically a nice shot but there's nothing original here. Sorry. Big thanks to all of you who left POLITE comments on my last image. More soon.

I see that you yourself know this photo lacks a bit of something so i know you wont be offended when i now try to give you some constructive critizism. I say try because what im about to say is only my opinion and you might not agree with it. I really like this composition but there are basically two things that kinda ruins it for me. And it could be easily fixed to look alot better. Number one is that car...i know its tiny but it is still distracting enough to be the first thing that i noticed. Especially when youre only seeing the top of it. The second thing is the uneven exposure of a blown sky and dark bottom. If you have access to Photoshop or some other editing software, you could easily fix that by adjusting the Shadow/Highlights. That i think would improve your overall tonal range and it will give you some more depth to it and hence it wouldnt look as flat. This i think is even more important whenever working in B&W...then the tonal range is even more important than if youre working in color where you have all different kinds of colored shades. As of getting polite comments....i read the comments you got on your latest and i couldnt find one that wasnt polite so i dont know what youre refering to. Maybe it got deleted or something. Have a great day!

I like it! This photo has a very Victorian feel to it. Zacko is right about the car top, but that is very minor in my opinion. The lighting is just fine. It's a good pic,Lexa!

wish I could have a similar moment and place to capture. don't mind the lit up roof of the car. it just adds up more lightness and volume to the bottom which is definitely heavier.
