Have you ever tried so hard to create an image but it just didn't work? I am not happy with this at all but I spent so many days working on it that I wanted to post it.
Here's why: The millenium baby. The baby figure does not look like a baby to me. Babies are compact and chubby with no neck and large pupils...little cuddles of joy.
So I see this unbelievably cute baby in an advert and I wonder if I can make the Mil Baby into what I see in the ad.
Not quite, unfortunately. I can't get the nose right nor the mouth closer to the chin by manipulating in Bryce so I have to resort to some postwork I've never tried before. Without completely distorting the face, this is what I came up with.
Biggest Faux Pas is that my baby is sitting straight upright without any body shifting when it should have that plopped baby on a couch look, lol. Hubby says it looks like a doll.
Only clothes I had was the Rumplestiltskin outfit so the baby has a Russian flavor to it. Curious3D pillow and plaids from Bonbonish Christmas freebie.
I would love to see any baby images that others think look like infants. You can share them here.
Edit!!! I just had to add a link to the inspiration piece. You just have to see this gem. I want to scoop her up and run off with her, lol.

I think it looks sweet! I love his outfit: a lil Cosack! j/k It looks great, Nancy, the whole picture. The various cloth textures are great, and of course the cats. Excellent job on getting the baby neck down, I can't tell that you did anything.

This is a wondeful image! But you're right, the cats look more alive than the baby does - it's more like a doll... I can't say excactly why, other than the facial expression is bit too stiff, or maybe it's just the lack of drool :D Anyway, it's still a beautiful vintage-looking image :)

Wonderfully nice image ... I love the cat and the baby is ... well ... a baby. To be honest I hear people talk about how cute babies are and I just have to shake my head as I think they're all repugnant to look at. Gotta admit though, that by time the female babies reach 18+ they start to show definite signs of cuteness. LOL Well done Nancy. *****

Very lovely image and beautyfull setting. But i agree. This Baby looks like a little doll. Like a porcelain doll. Not like a real baby. Thats the reason why i never use the Mill baby. But never mind. i love this image. Looks nostalgic and very presios whith beautyfull details. I think it is a wonderful scene! If you aren't pleased with it,, just put it away for awhile and go back with a fresh eye. I personally think you did an excellent job. :o)

Well I don't know much about babies but I think you did a great job here. Of course, he sits upright with all those clothes you have put on him! 8-) He's not prettier than the ad you saw but then real people is prettier than 3D characters... oh, wait, my character is prettier than me! 8-) And I'm sure the one in the ad has been postworked. 8-) I like very much that couple of cats playing around him. The couch has the right feel and very good textures. Nice job.

Your work is excellent to me, but why not try a more animated look to her if your unhappy with this.A tilt to the body to oneside.Or with her two rather frisky cats beside her that shes tries to see them out of the corner of her eye while trying to stay sitting upright.Don't forget to put on a smile or people might think she looks like she's freakin out.lol, Ah well I always wander silly me.Looks great as is.Excellent! :B eaver !

After looking at the ad you got your inspriation from, I came back and looked at yours. I know you are unhappy with her, but her inperfections are what make this whole image work. It gives it rather than a warm squishy feel you going for to a very stylish surrealistic feel. I like this very much more than your inspiration piece. I think the little kitties have her a little befuddled and that's a great expression with children when they encounter something new. Excellent piece. Bunny

Nancy, I think you did a lot lot lot better than I could of, If I had done it he would probablly have a beard or some kind of weapon[lol]! So you still get my thumbs up, though I like to watch babies they are so cute, before they grow up into big peeps, some of those are OK as well, but ya gotta love a baby!

This is good work. You have great lighting and the cats have a playful personality to them. If you have decide to redo this image, you might want to lower the eye lids a little so that the face is more natural.

Excellent work on what is a very difficult scene to accomplish. Try turning the baby very slightly, place the left hand on or near the cats head, turn the babys head back towards the camera, mouth slightly open and try to put a giggleing expression on the babys face. It may work.

A very cute doll but a great composition!! :) Agree with the comments re angling the baby's body more towards the cats though. He would be fascinated with them playing so close. Either that or petrified!! :)
