I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Excellent Bob. It has the Terragen Classic feel with the TG2 clouds, the best of both worlds. 5 by 5 work!!!!

Agree with Thelby, Bob. You are definately making headway with the new version. This is instantly recognisable as "one of yours".

Now we're talken...I can see why you were so excited when we last talked. The 2 layers of clouds and getting a stream in there tops this off nicely. And it looks like you getting some textures to stick on that classic style of yours that is starting to come through. Hopefully by next summer, I'll have made enough money to buy me a rendering machine and a copy of TG2 with all the bugs worked out of it... After I buy my fishing boat. I really need to get out of the house more and into some real landscapes and loose some weight! Bob, you get a 5 from me, to bump those 4 1/2 stars up where they belong, for the effort, taking your time and not posting a 15 minute render everyday!
Darthmagus
Superb clouds!

If one considers that TP2 is a totally different software-program, compared to the old version, your progress is looking just fantastic to me. I think there's no limit to your ambition. ;-)

I agree with the above comments. It is a brand new program as far as getting out of it what you imagine. You are well on your way with work like this.

Beautiful sky and clouds, very impressive progress with this new TG2. Your original style is also revealed. I will also buy registered version once they work out all the bugs out of it. I am beginning to love this TG2. Excelllent work, Bob!! I am looking forward to seeing more of it!!!! :) *****

Thanks to all for taking the time to look and talk about the picture. These are my baby steps (crawling actually). It will be a long time before I can drive this program to yield images that are appealing; and, to learn all there is to learn about what button do what things. A few commented about the need to sharpen the image. Actually, I blurred the picture a bit to lower the contrast between shaded and lighted areas (too much black in the shadows. I think now, GI (global illumination) is the setting to play with to make the blackness in the shadows a bit brighter. My surface work needs a lot more improvement. As yet, I haven't found a way to better texturize the surface layers.

Well - you are progressing much better that I am at the moment. The only constructive thing I have managed to do with TG2 is open the @#%$!?! program. But, yes learning this is taking a lot of time.

Excellent POV and depht, like a lot your sky!

When I 1st saw this picture I added it to my best camping spots wish list. You really put the "S" in Southwest America. Wish I had a word that was better than "Excellent." Maybe Fantabulous, First Class... :O)
