Description

Since Windows XP Media edition is just home edition with an extra bunch of TV,MUSIC and Video applications that you really already had in the regular XP..We shaved all the crap that wasnt needed from it and cleaned up all the other needless aplications and made a high speed render XP skeleton...For the last few days i have been plagued with the freeze ups and crashes that all that extra junk caused and as soon as we trimmed the fat it works perfect...It will still take me a week or 2 to move all my stuff and get organized..But we got it fixed and running smoother than i ever imagined..Poser is Really fast(i will do some benchmark tests with the old computer)Bryce6 is easily 10 times faster and Vue too..and my photoshop and Wacom pad are way smoother than they ever were..And not that it really matters but i didnt void my warranty either.. i had some words on the phone with Hell(in america)Today, and they know i am anything but pleased with the service i have received..But still refuse to do anything about it or change anything..i think we all need to buy from companys that dont outsource to other cheaper labor countries anyway...I dont know what i was thinking.. something we noticed to while we were working on my computer was how slow earthlink dial up software is..speaking of companies that have outsourced theyre workload..I will have to try something local and cheaper and faster...Has anyone tried People PC?or NETZERO?

That is one hell of a result Bill. I'm so glad you've finally managed to get on top of it and you can bet your bottom dollar, I'll be asking your advice, when I take a visit to our local computer shop. The one I told you about. This is totally cute and reflects your mood right now. Excellent in every respect Sir! Steve :o)

Bill, I've used, and still have, Netzero. Mine is the free version and is limited to so many hours a month but the paid ones are unlinited usage. I did use the High-speed for a bit and I liked it fairly well. I keep it for a back-up in case my DSL modem dies again like the last one did. You can try the free one for a bit to see how well you like it. Glad you got your comp woes under control. Great image, BTW. :)

Buy from companies that don't outsourse their jobs, I don't know of any company that doesn't do this!!! But I am happy you got things under control Bill!!! Have you tried DSL, I have it and I love it!!! Much better than dial-up!!! Netzero is good, but you are still using dial-up. The only reason it's fast, is because it compresses certain files like .jpg Well anyway, this is excellent artwork Bill!!! Hugsss Frankie ^_^

If this is just shades of things to come I can't wait! Don't know anything about computers or hook-ups, sorry. The last time mine went down some idiot unplugged the internet cable. I live alone with no pets. LOL! Glad you've solved your problems. BJ

Dear Bill, I'm glad you are getting things resolved - sort of. The important thigns is that your computer is up and stable!! I can't help you with the dial up stuff. I don't have any experience with it at all. Do you have any other options?? Can you do a satellite downlink or something? Most of those systems still use the phone as an uplink, but at least the download speed is higher. Some areas also have HF radio links, also. That might not work depending upon your terrain. But satellite would if the cost is not prohibitive. Also - how far is it to the nearest cable/DSL/whatever service? You might be able to do some type of repeater link. The speed gains sound really terrific - amkes me want to look at new stuff, too! I'm also thinking about one of the new terabyte drives. I've got that much, but it's scattered over four HDD's. What I really needto do is set up a RAID 5 at home I guess. One more thing for the never ending to-do list!!! Really nice image! And I'm glad you are not feeling the "butcher shop" anger quite as much!!! Best of luck with everything!!! Love ya!!! Meredith

Agreed about all those crappy superfluous services that they install on your machine. I refuse to allow that crap on my render machine. Congratulations on this speedier setup.
