Description

The second image in my pre/post series. I try and shoot for a render that is as close to my intended final image as possible (who doesn't?), and I think this simple fact is quite evident in this comparison. I used a re-textured sky-dome for the background, and rotated until I saw a pattern I believed could be used as surogate flames. I didn't relish the thought of painting flames on a blank canvas. Top - Raw Poser 6 render Bottom - Final image with Post work in CS Comments and crits welcomed.

veryt nice work...i think your flames could do with being a bit more defined in places....but other than that its great to see a before and after shot! well done!

Nicely done, that guyver model is excellent, and you've done a brilliant job of adding effect in the post work.

Thank you all. I agree with you kirisute. My flames could use a little more definition in places to help avoid the dreaded 3D model on 2D background problem.

The distortion from the heat on his left hand is inspired... nice attention to detail... more defined flames can be easily added if you have access to bryce, just load a simple sphere on a black background, change the material to volumetric flame, render then import as new layer, set to lighten or screen and erase areas you don't like... that's something I use for flame effects. -T

Thankyou for the advice Wasgo. I wont be doing anything more to this image (you have to let go sometimes), but I will certainly this in mind for the next time I need fire.
