Description
I'm trying to build some characters for a little project I'm working on. I liked the way this test render turned out, so I thought I would add it to my gallery.
The background is a modified backdrop from the wonderful Bogwoppet.
The outfit is a temporary thing for the character, just something to get a feel for him.
The sword is a temp as well and will not be used int he final project. That said, youcan find this marvelous prop in the free stuff here at renderosity. It is by Goblin Design.
Thanks for stopping by. And thoughts are appreciated. I'm looking to build a character who is tough and handsome. The kind of guy you'd like to have watching your back in a fight. He still should have an undercurrent that makes you a bit uneasy, though, just an edge. I hope you get this feeling from this character. If not, please tell me what this character does make you think of.
Cheers!

Well from what I can see of him so far, he is gorgeous and you can give him my phone number, lol, seriously, I cannot wait until the final details for him are finished. I dont do males that often but I would do a render of him in a second. Angela

His face reminds me a bit of Patrick Swayze in his role in the movie 'Point Break,' and definitely shows personality and strength of will. I have to confess that I personally don't like that particular suit of armor. The football playre like shoulder pads seem to be more imbedded in his shirt, rather than sitting on top of it, and for some reason that bothers me (Possibly a little postwork shadow around the edges of the steel plate would improve things, also I think that the shirt 'might' be bumped too high and is thus rather inflated). The bicepts seem to me a bit too rugged, or the forearms a bit too puny in relation to each other, but that might just be my angle of view; but since this is a WIP, I think it's something to consider. There is also a strange blotch or birthmark on the outside of his reight wrist. If this is intentional, then fine, but if it's a result of extreme pose, then this needs to be tended to; and frankly, I can't tell which it is from my angle of view. Again, I close by saying that this character shows great potential. A last suggestion, you might consider putting a few creases/wrinkles laterally across his forehead, and/or a sword-cut scar above one of his eyebrows to increase the Man of Decision/Ferocious Warrior aspect. I remain, respectfully yours, David P. Hoadley

Oh very cool character!Gotta love that sword too. Excellent work!

Neat character and kewl sword! The extreme shineyness of the armour is a bit distracting though...I would expect this guy to have a little rust and dirt on it. :)
mikeerson
makes me think of the gladiator.

More of a Hollywood actor than a gladiator. But that's not bad. A better grip on the sword would be nice, as well as a bit of motion blur on the blade to show movement. I hope you keep up with this subject and keep experimenting with the medium! I for one will keep watching.
