Description

Proud and powerful Protecting and providing Facing the struggle Of life and death Together ... as a family. Perhaps the fact that lions are very social, living in prides as small as three or as big as forty, makes them more 'human' to me, especially the lionesses; the mothers, daughters, sisters, and grandmothers, who do most of the hunting and raise the cubs. Males protect the pride, their fierce roar projecting as far as five miles, but leave after two to four years, usually forced out by younger stronger males. Females stay with the pride for life.
