Description

B_Peacock's beautiful Ashley (with Blackhearted's Girl Next Door body)posing for me, trying to copy a Boris calendar picture. I'm a big fan of Boris--I have friends who complain "he's not as good as Frazetta", and I could explain in boring detail why he's coming from a different psychological place than Frazetta, (I wrote my college thesis on SF and Fantasy Illustration), and why I like him. But the short story is that he is an amazing painter of color and landscape, even if you tossed out the people. Here I didn't want to duplicate his brushwork, so I just made it a photo shoot and had a good time posing Ashley. She's over on the Commune and I think she looks like Elizabeth Hurley. She is gorgeous!

Oh, darn!!! babes with axes are always welcome to me (long as they don't try to use the axe on my furniture and/or my innard - the former are costly, the latter are not-so-costly but they're out of catalog by now) but what i love more are the little details - the crease in half, the folded corner... :) ... gotta love this one and, although i like more brom and the savage/evil look of his illustration, Boris's for sure another great one, and this is an awesome tribute! wise nods Gorgeous work and lovely outfit... now when willya start to seel your own calendars? ;P

i like the fact that you only loosely used the idea of the calendar instead of trying to copy it verbatum - i think it looks better because of that... her tones are so devilishly rich & bronze that it makes looking away quite difficult... my favourite bit is the piece on her right shoulder as the reflectivity is some of the best i've seen, truthtold...

Oh, I love Boris and Frazetta. What gives Frazetta the edge for me is the incredible movement in his images, while Boris paintings always have a "posed" look to them. Like i said-I do love 'em both! I love your images, too-this is really impressive!!!!! Damn-I'm so far behind in my commenting!!! Glad I didn't miss this one!!! EXCELLENT!

I have to say, I love both artists and as a student in college, I had the opportunity to see a show at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC featuring Frazetta's work, and I was floored by his talent! This image is absolutely stunning Lynn! Your painting here is incredible! I think you've captured the style of Boris beautifully, but you have amazing talent yourself that always impresses me, no matter what you create! Huge Fav!
