Description

Mount Athos is a 1000 years old monastic semi-governed area in peninsula of Athos in south Macedonia Greece, dedicated in worshipping God. The place is of tremendous natural beauty and the ancient Monasteries and various other buildings enhance even more its beauty. The only way to reach this place is by boat. One of the peculiarities is that only men are allowed to enter this place. The photo was taken on 29/10/2006 Camera: Canon Eos 100/ELAN Film: Ilford Fp4plus Developer: Rodinal 1+25 paper: Kodak Elite Fine Art premium weight No.3 ferrotyped. Scanner: Epson Perfection 3170 photo Image Manipulation ( Photograph was too big for scanner so I re-created the borders) through The Gimp 2.2.11 for Linux. Thank you for viewing :-)

I love the composition and pov on this, though I do have a suggestion. Do you still have the negative? If so, a drum scan or even a slide scanner like a Nikon Coolpix or Minolta Dual Scan III (have both) will yield much better results for presentation. Scanning a photograph will always be a bit blurrier. And what, no women lol! All the best!

Beautiful use of B&W! Love the way you've made it look like a long exposure from an early camera.

Very nice old-looking image, some kind of window opening into the ancient times. In fact it was quite a recent picture taken with a serious silver SLR (you do not speak about the lens, but even with lo-price zoom at this small-scale it should have a higher definition), I am surprised that you could not have it sharper, because you use a much better scanner than me. Try to scan your print at 300dpi, it should be better.
