Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

A true beauty, so you do not ever pick up a piece of lava rock and take it home? [=

Dinhi...Will not take home anything from this particular area known as the Home of Pele, our Hawaiian fire Goddess. You would be surprise of how much mail we receive from people all over the world returning back lava rocks taken from Hawaii. Check this out.. "Redurned Lava Rocks" . Aloha

I have heard much about the revenge of Pele or whatever it is called. I understand sacred lands and native beliefs. Interesting shot of this rock.

Wonderful capture, very sound thinking too. Wish more people on our planet held these beliefs as scared. Hugs. Diane.

Great capture, interesting stories of ppl how have had bad luck & returned the lava rock, one would have to say........serves themselves right, check local customs & laws before removing anything, they also show no respect for locals & there own laws & customs. Stuart

Admirable you are. I think alot of people would take it. This is one interesting find you captured.
Zofodon
It could be gold or it could be pyrite. Here in the midwest U.S. lots of kids and some adults pick up pyrite and think they've hit pay dirt, only to find out later it's just a shiny rock. Still, leaving alone lets the next person be able to see and appreciate it.
