Description

"A Year Ago This Week" It was a year ago this week that the woman I loved told me to stop sending her flowers and cards and that she felt nothing for me It was a year ago this week that I felt more pain than I've ever felt in my life It was a year ago this week that I hated life more than I've ever loved it The pain is numbed but the memory and love remain I date I'm social I stay active Yet I miss her Sometimes I wish I could wipe the memory from my mind forget her and move on Not a day passes without thinking about her Obsessed? Possibly Would I take her back? In a heartbeat Some day another may kindle the flame of love in my heart without her memory extinguishing it Some day one may step into the light of my life and not be merely a shadow to the one who touched me like no other Some day A year ago this week A year ago And I'm still not over her. Such an honest expression of pain, of loss, of quiet desperation. But those four first lines grabbed my soul, and I think I will remember them forever. These 4 lines are not clever semantics, they are rough and torturing universal expressions of despair. And I'm so glad for you that there will be "another poem", showing us that humans are survivors, whatever the setbacks. Thank you so much for this poem!
