The thumbnails are not the point. people keep missing that. The thumbnails are just the start. And People also fail to read that it is not just nudity. Violence as well. So you can not portray any nudity violent scenes, action scenes coz most are violent, violent nudity, And the rules are hypocritical I have already seen that some images with censorship avatar get banned and other images that do portray violence or nudity stay on. In the end it is all a bunch of BS and people are tired of it. And it is not just this site.

Wise words.. you already mailed me about it and I will try :) I think the way I did it (but just having the whole scene as the thumb) was already different (even though it was just the default) because almost everybody made thumbnails.. Some pretty Good and others eh... simply not so good. Sometimes they were inviting and when inside it was a bit hmmmmm and sometimes they were (are) not good at all and you think of skipping and you are glad you did not. Maybe everybodies Avatar (personal Thumb) should be the only thing visual One knows what to expect or not.... I will try to keep the "whole scene" unless it has something that is not allowed.. than I make a smaller version.. Although a "brand" like Meredith suggests is also fun.. maybe the Squirrel :)

Well though out advise and an attitude that we can all learn from. . . "make the most of what you have and of any limitations place on you". Regardless of our feelings "pro" or "con" on the resent change, this seems like "golden" advice to me, thanks very much Meredith!!!

Hey didn't I just read this in the thread on The Thumbnail Change? ;) I think you have a superb grasp on this issue Meredith, and an excellent remedy for the situation! Sad news was, I had no clue it was being addressed until one of my Favorite Artist was censored. I seldom get out to the thumbnail gallery unless I'm posting which is not that frequent, and even less to the main page where the initial thread was. I over looked it as not a significent TOS change. I guess I would have seen the RED notice in the upload section though! I would have prefered an email notice directly refering to the change, and a grace interval.

It's a good point about branding and advetising, but what if you were forced to only eat at McDonalds when you're a vegan? It's not really about nudity, it's about some trying to force their opinion of others. There is already a system in place to deal with this but people are too lazy to do it. Those that have a problem with the thumbnails can't be bothered to set the nudity filter in their profile, so they want to force everyone to change their thumbnails instead.

Words of wisdom Meredith. My thoughts exactly but you have said it far more eloquently than I ever could. Well done!

Ditto Meredith, you are a clever cookie, but Argon18 said, this has come about because of lazy artists not checking the nudity & violence box/button...shame, shame, SHAME ! ~Cheers~

Very good idea, what always got me the attention - and this is not a critic for anybody, it is alone an observation - it is that many artists announced their nude works putting a miniature of the work in yes, according to me I believe since I am in Renderosity it was always noticed to the artists that didn't put naked in their tumbnails, it is not a new rule, and if some takes the work of seeing all my gallery it won't be in my works any nude that is shown as such, they have always been pieces of the scene, generally the face. It can be a very good idea that each one has an attractive presentation so that their image is view for but people.

You nailed it perfectly! Great idea. I agree with Dennis and sorry to hear some artists have been censored regarding this change. I rarely see thumbs as I respond to ebots, and just happened to see the notice in one of the forums.

Oh, I see! I have to put some Golden Arches on my thumbnails and people will make queues to enter my gallery! Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll need a Ronald MacDonald on them... hey, wait! I already have a clown... 8-)

If this is an example of "blond thinking" then we must all reconsider the whole blond mythos. Methinks perhaps that blonds are vastly underrated.

All very wise comments and suggestions Meredith, but you didn't cover the hardest part of implementing you suggestion: coming up with a brand in the first place! :)

i thought maccie-dees sold lots cos they put stuff in the hamburgers to get you addicted, lol. (ONLY JOKING!!!) I agree with you Meredith, i see your pink heart straight away, i associate you with that and your thumbs do stand out amongst the crowds im gonna rethink how i do my thumbs although i dont do that many nudes, with normal thumbs its a case of "cant see the wood for all of the trees" and i wanna be a big shiney star amongst that forest, lol. me going to have a big think now without trying to make me brain hurt, :op x

So true Mere. I've been using the "Chira" brand on all my Chira posts. Those that see it, jump on it if they are following the story, others avoid it because they know it's a children's story and needs some time investment to follow along. What I don't understand is that if the visitor has 'opted' to avoid images with nudity, then the thumbnails of nudes don't show anyway.. So what's the point? I don't blame the site sysops or Rosity.. they are bending under pressure from outside groups who somehow think they can clean up the internet via censorship. Problems stem from what constitutes needing cleanup. My male co-worker blushes and squirms over a sears catalog with pics of bra's. He would request a fig leaf on the statue of David...lol. I say.. don't change the roads.. just post more warning sings. But the censors don't like that because it just creates an obvious path to follow for those seeking what the censors want to hide. The whole thing is actually very funny and down-right entertaining...lol. Hugs and best to ya Mere from Dave :^)

Very well said, Meredith. Some great points / suggestions you've made here. I've never uploaded a thumb with nudity, but I definetly like your idea. Think I'll build my own custom logo thumbnail. Thanks for the idea! Big hugs, my friend! - Matt

I get it now, Hamburgers = Nudity... wait no that can't be right... lol just kidding, well said. I don't think i'm ready to 'brand' my images aside from the chimera sig and serial title (BEIP, GOE) that I already use now though. For the time being i'd like the thumbnail to speak for itself as much as possible. We'll see how that goes though...
