Description
The typical '49 Ford mascot is the conical disc found below in this image. I'm not sure of the origins of the winged portion of the mascot as it looks as though they have been added afterwards...perhaps found by the owner as a long lost after-market option that he(or she) has yet to restore as it is not in as pristine a condition as the lower portion of the mascot. The 1949 Ford was a trend-setter as it was the first post-war automobile to do away with the usual fender/vestigial runningboard combination that had prevailed up to that point, instead incorporating a smooth sided body from front to back. The way of the future.

There's a good chance it was hand made, from the look of it. Nifty sighting, good catch.
