Description

"Don't shoot into the sun". Well why not??!! With several of my recent posts I've been trying to challenge some of my basic pre-conceptions of how I should shoot, and also seeing what is possible with modern post-processing software. Am I cheating? Well no, I think not. Photographers have used sneaky darkroom techniques for decades to get different results from film, from such simple things as waving a hand over certain parts of the exposure to darken them, to masks, multiple-exposures and beyond. So if PS makes life a bit easier I'm all for it! Comments appreciated, positive or otherwise, but please view fullsize before you do!! Thanks for looking, ~Steve~ Canon 5D, 17-40L @17mm, F11, 1/60s ISO 250 Previous posts:- "The Priory"

Yeppers - you opinion is right up my alley. Unless you don't abuse it, or use it to add ridiculous effects to your image, that make no sense at all - I'm in. As with overcoming "silly" rules. There are always situations, when the one you quoted, the rules of thirds or whatever rules just don't work! Thus ignoring them makes your image a highly interesting one, especially because no one tries.... Did a full frontal in the sun a couple of days ago - and it worked out good as well!

Actually shooting into the sun with a digital camera is quite different than the same with a traditional camera... least in my experience. I try to avoid it, but then I find myself looking for opportunities to do it! It's just 'diffrunt.' ;-)

breathtaking! It almost seems as if all the "walls" facing you are lit by another source... postwork i presume is to "blame" for that. Great stuff! :)

One of the best examples I've seen of why not to follow the rules, very well captured, stunning effect Stuart
