Description

it was snowing heavy but the road was clear of ice/snow thanks for viewing and comments if any of you are thinking about upgrading your computer to Vista, take a long hard look before you do it.my sound card will not work and Vista will not let a new driver to be installed. I have read the microsoft has made it more difficult to record audio for some stupid reason do you see the eyes in the boulder? maybe spies for the rest stop?

Fine capture of the stratified boulder, Richard! Kind of looks like Mt Suribachi on Iwo Jima in the winter, or a macro shot of a chocolate sundae. As far as Microsoft Vista is concerned, I use a Macintosh G4, so that is the least of my worries. Thanks for the tip, anyway.

I've read that Vista is intentional "bloat-ware" with the hopes that the hardware manufacturers will advance its success in the marketplace. Also read that 2G of memory is required to make it budge. I intend to stay away from it for as long as possible and maybe even switch to Linux. It's finally getting warmer here in Arizona ... almost up to 80 today. But that's what it looked like in Tucson only a week or so ago. Excellent picture.

Apparently there are quite a few things out there that do not have drivers that will work in Vista. I just read somewhere (might have been right here on the boards) that Western Digital harddrives do not as yet have drivers that will work with Vista. So yes, look long and hard before you make that purchase. Make sure that all your hardware, and all our programs are comptatible, or be prepared to by more then just Vista. This is a wonderful scene! the snow and the rocks are very impressive. I hope the rest stop is behind you as you took this shot, otherwise it would have to be somewhere in those bushes! LOL!!

The soundcard hook! This has been going on since the beginning of PC gaming. There is only 640Kb in the kernel and when the configuration is made sometimes only 515kb is available. Then you must put some drivers into HIMEMM... and create a non-conflicting hook for your sound card among interupts from 1-9 where 7 are already used and the other 2 are misconfigured for some reason. Universal Plug-n-Play and ADA both show that digital still has some way to go to take impedance matching out of analog. Lets see there is RS-232 and IEEE-488 and parallel port and game connector and LINE and OUT and IN and duplex voice jack and IEEE 1394 and USB...

Dear Richard, I don't know why it would have trouble with the new drivers. Make sure you are logged in as administrator - maybe it's a permission issue. I think they also added an additional level of protection to prevent bad stuff from changing the system. There should be someplace to tell it the driver is OK to install. You might also see whatthe Microsoft Knowledge base has to say. Do a search for your video card and see if anything pops up. And do a Google on th card, too, to see what is being talked about. As far as I know they didn't change anything on the recording capabilities. Love the picture - that is amazing seeing the snow on the strata like that!!! What a great place to stop for a picture session!!! And yep - I see the eyes!! Glad you didn't have any trouble driving in the snow!!!! Love ya!!! Meredith Meredith Elaine Wilson - MeredithLand

Personally, in France, Microsoft delivered in the review Windows News de Janvier, CD on which figure "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor". This program makes it possible to know which level of Vista one can install on his computer. The test is conclusive for me... the graphics board, to start with it is too small, the size of the disc of 30 gigas is insufficient, one needs 50 gigas minimum... etc... Thus I have a graphic VISTA emulation for XP, and I will not install VISTA, and I will not die about it the problem of MICROSOFT is that each manufacturer of hardware, takes agreements in principle so that MICROSOFT sells and does not let itself exceed by Mac Intosh! More it is powerful more they are expensive in read-write memory the... solution to leave itself there is to use LINUX. But for me, after 40 years of data processing, I want to make imagery, not data processing... LINUX has the same origins as UNIX, except that the UNIX licences are paid and that there are no yet licences for LINUS. But it will be necessary to have another philosophy of work that with WINDOWS! VERY GOOD SHOT RICHARD!
