Description

A silverback gorilla in the flesh is an awesome thing to behold and this picture does not do the animal full justice because you can only get a true idea of how wonderful it is a first hand.. For me for it to be in the wild would be something of a lifelong goal... This was the big Silverback at Bristol Zoo who had managed to sire a little one last year, his mate it was discovered had cataracts, and was thus not able to see his courting rituals of raised eyebrows etc, anyway the happy event did take place after surgery to remove her visual problems, and I will post one of the Mother and baby another time.. All species of gorilla are seriously endangered, even today the bush meat trade, logging, and encroachment on habitat despite well publicised conservation projects..

A wonderful portrait of this superb Male Gorilla. Of course as the most of us I thought to Dian Fossey each time I see a gorilla. This woman has really dedicate her life for them. I know that know others has taken her place, and continue to fight for the preservation of the Gorillas. I'm sorry to haven't been older when I was in Congo... I was very near the frontier of Congo and Rwanda, in this part of the forest where there are some groups of silverbacks. I could imagine that if Iive there now... I'll had a very different life ! Could you imagine how it must be incredible to stay with them for months or years, to be accepted by them ? Arhhhhhhh I'm always dreaming to another life, I know ! But I miss the wild life ! Thank you for this beautiful portrait Dany ! This one gone immediatly in my favs ! Hugs my friend, and have a good week
