Description

The Confederate States salvaged the frigate Merrimack and de-masted and steel plated her. She was renamed the CSS Virginia. Here she heads out for sea trials of Hampton Roads, VA. The Virginia fought the Monitor to a draw in 1862 and later that year both vessels were sunk: the Monitor floundered at sea and was lost and the Virginia was scuttled to avoid capture by the Northern forces. Model by faveral. Vue 6 Infinite.

Beautiful work... My eye wants to see a slight transparency in the flags -- but I'm not certain that would be correct. Minor thing at best as this picture is perfection.

Well done historical reinactment artwork, great sky, smoke, water, and textures. What is truely amazing to me is how this "angled sides" shape is so so close to the very newest US Navy prototype "ships of the future"! Excellent artwork Ken!!!
