Description
Time for a change with this Crested Barbet: This week I was tempted to start with a short series of bird captures I made. They are representative of fairly common garden birds in central South Africa. For you enjoyment I added a link to more info and names in 3 languages and hope it is not going overboard.
South Africa has been experiencing problems with international Internet links lately and I hope it is solved soon hence my absence in the galleries.

His colors are just simply beautiful. I go out every morning to feed the birds and hear them sing. We have the robins and the blue jays but nothing with so much color. Thanks for sharing the abundance of life in Africa. A most unique part of our planet:0)bonita

Oh Piet, this little guy is so incredible !!!! And it's a very good idea to make a serie of birds, you'll make a duo with my friend Loloe ;o))) It's a very good shot, so neat and the colors and the details are.... magic ! It's the first time I see this bird, then I've look at some informations on a french website. For the french friends, the name is "Barbican promic" ;o)))) Have you heard his particular song ???? Mother Nature has been very generous in South Africa, and there is here a diversity incredible. I'm very happy to discover all that beauties toward your eyes. Wow, what detail plue a myriad of colorful textures! Supremely superb capture of this avian, which looks like it's related to the Kingfisher. The blurred background really sets it off. Vunderbar!
