Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Good Morning All *S* Here's some Egyptian love poems just in time for the big day tomorrow ! The one in the pic I did has always been my favorite, and haven't we all felt that way about the one we love :o) and yes, I am a 'hopeless romantic' :o) Wishing everyone an early Happy Valentine's Day !!! ~ Love & Hugs ~ * Mina * When one thinks of ancient Egypt, poetry is not the first thing that comes to mind, but their love poems are perhaps the greatest forgotten treasure. The earliest poetry in Egypt was likely part of an oral tradition. Hymns, stories, and prayers were passed down from speaker to speaker. It's likely that only one person out of every hundred could read and write. Even thousands of years later, their words are still so touching, poignant and timeless. N.B. ....Egyptian lovers called each other brother and sister Your love shall endure Day and night during the hours when I am asleep And when I wake by day. Your form animates hearts The yearning for your voice Gives strength to my body When it is tired. Always I shall say: There is no one else Who is in harmony With your heart, But me only! Come, my brother, swim to me! The water is deep in my love Which carries me to you. We are in the midst of the stream, I clasp the flowers to my breast Which is naked and drips with water. But the moon makes them bloom like the lotus. I give you my flowers because they are beautiful, And you are holding my hand In the middle of the water.

Such Romantic words are rarely spoken anymore. It seems romace has been replaced with lust in last decades, but there is no mistake that words as your's can never truely be phased out, 'Amore' still lives..............

Egypt? Love? Old love poems? Thats exactly what sparkes my interest in these days (and nights). The eternal Egypt love spirit can not be comprared with the "cheap" molto $$$$$ Valentin's Basar business though. Smile me... and twikle with my right eye to all of you sinners.... But, I hope, that some of you have a good Valentins Day and maybe some day you will visit the great Pyramids too - I'll be waiting in front of the mighty big Cheops-Py for you. Shukran! I'm the one with the three times knoted beard...

Nicely done. The hieroglyphic (font?) is very nice. I have a book on learning hieroglyphics. Do I need to dig it out and see if there is a hidden message there, as well? Fascinating that you have found what must be among the oldest love poems on the planet. Cool!!

You can love most of the people / Most of the time / Now and again if you're lookin' I'm sure / You will find Someone who's helplessly hoping / That someday They'll finally find the one Hopeless romantics keep hoping that / Someday will come Steve Earle "Hopeless Romantics" Great images and beautiful poems; Happy Valentines Day Mina!!!
