Description

This time the elegant shiny black plumage of the Cape Glossy Starling (Kleinglansspreeu) amidst a very competitive presence of very good bird captures this week, did you notice?
A photo can not do this bird justice as it has the most iridescent display when in direct sunlight as well as piercing orange eyes, is cocky and also very vocal.
Thank you for comments and visits to "African Red-eyed Bulbul":

looks like this bird is not so popular but his iridescence and beady eye are beautifully starling!

This is a marvellous shot of this bird as he looks as though he wouldn't stay still for long. What piercing bright eyes he has.

Our starlings here in the U.S. were brought over by Eugene Schieffelin in the 1890s. Apparently he felt that North America should have all the birds that were mentioned in Shakespeare's plays! He brought 60 starlings to NYC, and turned them loose in Central Park. Starlings receive a brief mention in Henry IV, Part 1. Got this info from Wikipedia. They are not as beautiful as your Cape Starlings, though they do have a sort of beauty of their own.

Iridescence is not an easy thing to do justice in photos, this I know. I've tried it with flowers lol. A beautiful capture nonetheless!
