Description
I knew that I was packed and ready to leave. Mags had overseen that process and had made sure all my clothing was prepared--even my old cloak was cleaned and ready for a long journey--the cloak that Good Tegall had given me. However, somehow seeing the drawn lines on the face of the Archmage as he told me to be ready to leave in two days, made me realize that this was not a simple journey we were going to undertake.
He told me this day was mine to use as I wished, but tomorrow morning he needed to see me in the library. The following morning we would be leaving.
Tompkins had released me from any duties in the library and was busy doing chores and errands for the Archmage that seemed to have some relationship to this trip or journey. Thus, I spent this next to last day wandering around the citadel which had, over the past months, become my home. Mags and Pol both knew I was leaving, but tonight I would have to tell Jess who had become a beloved, yet annoying, younger brother to me.
For a while I sat on the shore and looked out towards the land of the Kingdoms which stretched out to the south. There lay my past and all the questions that hadn't been answered about my origins and Dartan. There too lay my future and even more unanswered questions. For a moment I wished I were more like Tompkins and able to just search for information in this safe environment and spend my life in the library of the Archmage. However, that was only for a moment. There was another part of me that was waiting for the adventure to begin.
