Description

Another shot from the old industrial section of Memphis where many beautiful old abandoned brick buildings patiently await their fate to be torn down and replaced with condos for Yuppies with too much money and too little respect for the gallant structures torn down in their path. Of course that's all opinion, and this is supposed to be all about photography, but it saddens me when I visit this once favorite area of mine because it's changing so rapidly. Old buildings I've always known are being torn down and replaced with modern themed condos. Sigh. . . This is another shot of the building featured in my previous post. It's been neglected for so long that trees are actually growing right out of the bricks, and they seem to be thriving too. But this one really surprised me. While the tree in the previous shot click here was relatively close to the ground, this tree was 3 stories up! No leaves because it's winter. I hope the building is still there in the spring so I can get a shot with its leaves present, but at the rate its old neighbors are disappearing, I fear this spring will be its last.

Great shot and very interesting, too! And for the changes...they are happening everywhere in a rate that is incomprehensible. The town I live in quadrupled in population in the last 4 years...and that's happening all around with no regard for the ultimate consequences.

Fantastic perspective and textures and sad about the facts, I know! South Africa is also a case in point.
