Je länger man malt, desto mehr ist man Lehrling The longer you paint the more you are an apprentice.

Brief introduction: SaintFox is
-a woman born 1962 at the north sea coast of Germany.
-moved to the german midwest in 1996
-to a small town that offers a lot of medieval inspiration
-has at least two souls
...and about the nick: It's a mixture of my haircolor and a tattooed fox cub that I wear and that looks so saintly as a vegetarian. As long as I can think I enjoyed being creative - and I always loved learning something new! As I had my first look here I so much wanted to do images like the ones I saw in the gallery. But it took me several years to be brave enough to post my first image here. After all I do not understand anymore what made me hesitate so long... I'm a professional artist/illustrator, not at least because of the permanent encouragement of the "Captain of my heart", he's my muse, my secretary, my "wonderwall" against those things that are able to disturb creative processes so easily. Most of my work is published by a german gallery in Gelsenkirchen and available at my own homepage, too. In late 2005 I wask asked for my first collaborated works and so I finally found a second profession in doing my own characters and textures what enables me to give my images even more personal style.
Whenever I start to work on something new - especially when working with characters - there is a moment when the bundle of polygons and pixels suddenly seems to look at me from the other side of the monitor, it's the moment when my creations get personality. This is, at least, what I like to "transport" with my products: artist tools that are able to inspire the people that work with them because they have a kind of "virtual soul".
A woman under influence
Major influences on my work come from other admired artists and music. Some of my favorites: Jan Vermeer van Delft James Jaques Tissot Rembrandt van Rijn Hajime Sorayama Olivia De Berardinis Marcus Gray Herb Ritts Helmut Newton Alberto Vargas Ricky Carralero Gerald Brom ...and, regarding the feelings that I have when doing my characters: Dr. Viktor Frankenstein! Music: Too much to count, alternative and classics preferred but sometimes it has to be soul or jazz, too. The second large influence are people I met here: They comment on my images and help me to enhance them, they share their knowledge and finally some of them decided to involve me in their projects. For me (as I grew up in the before-internet-age) it's still some kind of miracle that people are able to work together independent of where they live.
...and, before I forget, the strongest influence during the last years came from some lines I read about 15 years ago:
Beauty is an experience, nothing else. It is not a fixed pattern or an arrangement of features. It is something felt, a glow or a communicated sense of fineness. What ails us is that our sense of beauty is so bruised and blunted, we miss all the best.
D.H. Lawrence

Imaginative. Yes! Sounds are so much a part of creativity. Music, especially along with the lyrics. You are so incredibly in tune with your art, it is magical.

Dear Meike, I too have a big love affair with music - I listen a lot - I play a lot!! In fact, I'm really eager to get backhome to see my old buddy Mister Steinway as I've really missded him!! I usually play for an hour or so almost everyday. And sometime, I play a lot more!! Times of strong emotions like this gal is feeling will find me spending hour after hour "talking things over" with my big friend!!! We laugh, we cry, we rejoice, we mourn - nothing else touches my soul like that!! I hope that this gal works out her problems and that she has someone to talk things over with, too!!!!! Very excellent work!!!!! This afternoon is the big moment - going for my checkride in the Citation X!!! Woo-Hoo!!!! (I love the smell of jet fuel!!!!!!!!) Actually, that might be a good time for everyone to take cover while a wacko blond is punching hole in the sky!!! Of course, Ill mostly be around Wichita, Kansas, so most folks are probably pretty safe - and Ill be on the short leash of a flight examiner! However, I did think it was pretty tacky of the insurance folks to cancel the insurance of everyone in Kansas for the duration of my flight!!! ;-) What a bunch of creeps!!!! Ill be back sometime tomorrow - still trying to figure out how Im gonna get back to San Antonio, Texas to pick up my car so I can then drive back to Houston!! Unfortunately I dont get to take the Citation X home as a souvenir!!!!! Darn!!!! (And yes, I did ask!!!!!) ;-) Love ya!!! Meredith
