Description
Apathy, emotional stagnation, and an absence of spirituality are the themes of this card. When it turns up in a reading the subject may have become lazy or complacent regarding anything not of the physical plane. Something may need to be relinquished or given up as well. Notice that the woman is walking away from the eight golden cups and toward the unknown building. Sometimes there must be a physical sacrifice made to enable spiritual growth. Again, this is a theme we see repeated in world religions. The Muslim observation of Ramadan, the Biblical Hebrew laws regarding the observation of the Sabbath, and the Christian period of Lent are all prime examples of this card's message put into practice for spiritual reasons.
