Description

Obviously I went to the zoo again. This time I came prepared (two cameras, more lenses) but there were fewer animals on display and lots more visitors to shuffle around while trying to get the perfect shot(TM). I also thought to take my 50mm f/1.8 lens with me this time so several of my Nikon shots in the bird, primate, and reptile houses came out great. This time my second camera was a Canon S3 with the Sony 1.7X tele-adapter, which worked out wonderfully. Purists will see several things that could be better in this shot, but considering it was taken hand held from over 300 feet away with the equivalent of a 20X magnification you can overlook that, right? People who visit zoos will also note that usually the animals are sitting in a corner somewhere, sleeping, eating their food, or cleaning themselves, so getting a shot of a tiger even grudgingly looking at the camera is difficult. Unfortunately he had been playing with his friend right before I came up so I missed most of the action. :(
