Hello, and thanks for stopping by...the above picture is of my kitty and me...
So, let's see...I started working with 3d art programs around 2005. My dad gave me a copy of Bryce and recently I've switched to Vue. My aim has always been to create a fantasy world that is both realistic and alien, a place people could explore and about which they could wonder. As a young boy I was greatly influenced by Tolkien's Middle-earth, starting, of course, with the Hobbit. As I got older I discovered the Silmarillion and the other books of Tolkien lore, and being already very interested in history, I found them fascinating. It is because of this that I began to do the same, to create a world. Up until recently it had always been of the written variety, with lists of kings, histories, etc. I also love to sketch strange plants and animals, and hope one day to really be able to bring them to life using 3d.
Well, that's about it....thanks for stopping by!

Well, however you look at it, it's suely surreal. Cool work.

A great alien landscape! Could also be altered to be sort of an underwater landscape (waves instead of clouds, fishes and water creatures)... I like this picture. Thanks for showing us!

It certainly is quite interesting, quite other-worldly. In such a case, the sky/shadows doesnt' matter too much. Well done I think!

Yeah, often it's not easy to "declare finished". Leave it and do not look at it for a while. When you see it again after weeks, you will know immediately, if it's your "wow-thing" or else what exactly you want to improve... For my part, its quite beautiful, and one can see, that it was not a "quick shot", but real work. There's one thing I don't understand, why do you use a background picture in Bryce for the sky?? If you use the Bryce skylab, you could have the same sky, with the advantage, that shadows and lighting colors match the appearance of the sky. Only case I (personally) could imagine for using a background picture in Bryce would be the exact opposite: if I DON'T want to match sky with scenery lighting. Anyway, I like it as it is, and like azrabella said above, the lighting makes a beautiful surrealistic effect.

Ah, I love your work and so glad to see a new image posted. I think Bryce has fantastic colored skies but it lacks real looking cumulus clouds. I understand for that reason why you used a picture for the background. I will be posting soon and the clouds in mine are very 'ugh'. I could have used your photographic skills to get a good shot :) Again, love the wild plant life...superb Brycing!!

I agree with Burpee. Sometimes, a good photograph will produce the exact effect I want for a background, be it sky or something else. Glad to see your still at it. Seems like quite awhile since the last one. I do agree with EventMobil about letting it sit awhile then going back to see if anything more is needed. It looks fine to me as is and you are correct that the sky and shadows don't match, but most people would never notice it, if you didn't point it out. Smile. Possibly it could use some more grass/weedy objects in the bare areas, but I'm not convinced that it would improve anything--just complicate it a bit more.

It's really amazing how you create this very real but very alien world. This piece in particular tells stories about the place you've created. It's very mysterious and very alive and very different without being over-the-top or trying too hard. Fantastic - and always love the names of your places.
