Description

This wonderful swing is hanging in a Madrona tree. For those of you who are more interested in the tree than in the composition, content, light, cropping, and other general photographic stuff, here's some information for you: Madrona trees are native to this area. (The Pacific Northwest. I'm in Washington State, USA, near Seattle.) For those of you living in California who are jumping up and down and yelling at me that it's actually a Madrone, not a Madrona, no, I'm not crazy. (Well maybe just a little, but I'm not wrong about the name of the tree!) For whatever reason, this tree has different names in different locations. In the southern end of it's habitat range it is known as Madrone. Up here, it's Madrona. The scientific name is "arbutus menziesii." I hope you enjoy seeing a bit of our native flora! It's one of my favorite trees. For those of you who are more interested in the tire, it appears to be an older whitewall. I didn't notice if it was Firestone or Goodyear or whatever. Sorry! I'm more of a gardener than a gearhead. :)
